The Story
Story Structure
This structure of the story forms around each stage of the boat build. Allowing each “episode” to stand alone as its own short story. Each part of the build will likely present a new set of problems to be solved giving us the opportunity to bring unique characters into the story and create a compelling journey.
Intro:
Opening and introduction to Panacea, and its connection to the main characters.
Scene One:
The plan: Following Simon as he designs and plans, and funds the build.
Scene Two:
How to build a wooden boat: This episode highlight’s Tony the decades of acquired skill, and the labor required to work with wooden boats.
Scene Three:
Hand making canvas sails: A short story about the canvas sailmaking along the coast of Maine, as Sherman Brewer, and others remake Panaceas sails.
Scene Four:
The Finishing Touches. This section returns to the yard as the finishing touches are put on Panacea, focusing on the details that make a boat whole.
Scene Five
The launch. Panacea boat is splashed! This piece concludes with the launch of Panacea, and the start of adventures ahead.
